The Black American Heritage Flag, created in 1967 by Melvin Charles and Gleason T. Jackson, serves as a powerful symbol of the history, culture, and pride of Black Americans. Its two diagonal red stripes honor the blood shed in the pursuit of freedom, equality, and justice. The central black stripe reflects the pride and identity of Black Americans of our color. The  Moorish sword within a golden wreath represents strength, leadership, and the profound contributions of Black culture to various fields. The golden wreath itself signifies intellect, prosperity, and peace, celebrating the enduring legacy of Black heritage
